BOOK WEEK 2026 – TERMS & CONDITIONS

These Terms & Conditions apply to the Book Week 2026 promotion taking place at Museum of Illusions Manchester between 28 February 2026 and 8 March 2026 (inclusive).

SECTION A – 10% OFF CHILD TICKETS

1. Offer Details

All child tickets are eligible for a 10% discount for visits to Museum of Illusions Manchester taking place between 28 February 2026 and 8 March 2026 (inclusive).

To receive the discount, customers must enter the promo code CHILD10 at checkout for online purchases or present the code at the point of sale for on-site purchases; the discount will not be applied automatically. 

2. Eligibility

A child ticket is valid for children aged 5 to 14 years old.

Children aged 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult (18+) at all times during their visit.

3. Validity Period

This promotion applies strictly to visits taking place between 28 February 2026 and 8 March 2026 only.

4. Purchase Channels

The promotion is valid for tickets purchased:

  • Online via the official Museum of Illusions Manchester website; or
  • On-site at the museum reception (subject to availability).

5. Pricing Notice

Walk-in tickets purchased on-site are priced £2 higher than tickets purchased in advance online.

6. General Conditions

  • The discount applies only to child tickets and cannot be applied to other ticket categories.
  • This offer cannot be combined with any other promotions, discounts, or offers unless expressly stated otherwise.
  • Tickets are subject to availability.
  • Discounted tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, subject to the Museum’s standard ticketing policy.
  • Standard entry Terms & Conditions of Museum of Illusions Manchester apply.
  • The Museum reserves the right to amend, suspend, or withdraw this promotion at any time where reasonably necessary.

SECTION B – BOOK WEEK FANCY DRESS COMPETITION

1. Promoter

The promoter of this competition is Museum of Illusions Manchester (the “Promoter”).

This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram or Meta.

2. Promotion Period

The competition runs from 28 February 2026 at 00:01 GMT to 8 March 2026 at 23:59 GMT (the “Promotion Period”). Entries submitted outside this period will not be considered.

3. Eligibility

  • Open to visitors of Museum of Illusions Manchester who attend during the Promotion Period.
  • Entrants under 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
  • Where an entrant is under 18, the parent or legal guardian must be the Instagram account holder posting the entry and will be deemed to have provided consent on behalf of the minor.
  • The Promoter reserves the right to request verification of parental consent before awarding a prize.
  • Employees of the Promoter and their immediate families may participate but are not eligible to win.
  • No purchase is necessary beyond standard museum admission.

4. How to Enter

To enter, participants must during the Promotion Period:

  1. Visit Museum of Illusions Manchester wearing a costume.
  2. Take a photo with their favourite illusion inside the museum.
  3. Post the photo to Instagram Stories.
  4. Tag @museumofillusions_manchester in the Story.

Entries must be publicly visible at the time of posting so they can be viewed and recorded by the Promoter. Participants are responsible for ensuring their Instagram account is public at the time of entry.

The Promoter will collect valid entries and may save them in an Instagram Highlight for transparency and record-keeping purposes.

5. Prize

  • One (1) winner will receive a bundle of ten (10) children’s book titles selected by the Promoter at its discretion.
  • The prize is non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and no cash alternative will be offered.
  • The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize with one of equal or greater value if necessary.

6. Winner Selection

The winner will be selected based on originality, creativity, and overall presentation of the costume by a judging panel consisting of:

  • Nikkita Birk — Sales Manager, Museum of Illusions Manchester
  • Sara Grepo Tomić — HQ Social Media and Content Manager
  • Ina Maglajlija — HQ Marketing Specialist

Judging will take place on 9 March 2026. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

7. Winner Notification

The winner will be contacted via Instagram direct message within 5 days of selection.

If the winner does not respond within 7 days, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner.

The winner’s first name and county will be available upon request by contacting [email address] within 30 days of the closing date.

8. Publicity and Content Licence

By entering the competition, participants grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, repost, publish, and display the submitted content (including Instagram username, image, and Story content) for promotional and marketing purposes related to the Museum without additional compensation.

9. Acceptable Conduct

Entries must not:

  • Contain offensive, unlawful, or inappropriate content;
  • Infringe any third-party intellectual property or other rights;
  • Violate Instagram community guidelines.

The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not comply with these Terms & Conditions.

10. Limitation of Liability

The Promoter accepts no responsibility for entries not successfully completed due to technical issues, platform failures, or network disruptions.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions shall exclude or limit the Promoter’s liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

11. General

The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, amend, suspend, or withdraw the competition where reasonably necessary due to circumstances beyond its control.

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

SECTION C – PRIVACY NOTICE (FANCY DRESS COMPETITION)

12. Data Controller

For the purposes of applicable UK data protection legislation, the data controller is Museum of Illusions Manchester Ltd.  (the “Promoter”).

13. Personal Data We Collect

In connection with this promotion, the Promoter may collect and process the following personal data:

  • Instagram username and publicly available profile information;
  • Content posted as part of the entry (photos, Stories, tags);
  • Any information provided via direct message (e.g., name or contact details for prize fulfilment).

14. Purpose and Legal Basis for Processing

Personal data will be processed for the following purposes:

  • Administering and managing the competition;
  • Verifying eligibility and entries;
  • Selecting and contacting the winner;
  • Delivering the prize;
  • Promoting the competition (including reposting entries).

The legal basis for processing is:

  • Performance of a contract (administering the promotion);
  • Legitimate interests of the Promoter in running promotional activities;
  • Consent where applicable (including parental consent where the entry includes images of a minor for promotional reposting).

15. Data Sharing

Personal data will not be sold or shared with third parties except where necessary to administer the competition (e.g., prize fulfilment providers) or where required by law.

16. Data Retention

Personal data will be retained only for as long as necessary to administer the competition and comply with legal obligations, and in any event no longer than 12 months following the end of the Promotion Period, unless required by law. Thereafter, it will be securely deleted or anonymised.

17. Your Rights

Under UK data protection law, participants have the right to:

  • Request access to their personal data;
  • Request correction or deletion of their data;
  • Object to or restrict processing;
  • Request data portability where applicable;
  • Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent).

18. Complaints

Participants have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if they believe their data has been processed unlawfully.
